It's a 'filler' row whose purpose is to get you to the right place, i.e. the top of the block. Rounds 2 & 3 are where you are truly working entrelac. You repeat them until you have 'eaten up' all the stitches left behind from the triangle on the first round.

Entrelac knitting is a mind shift - instead of working back and forth in horizontal rows as you typically do, you're suddenly knitting tiny rows back and forth on the diagonal. You have to take a leap of faith that it will work - and it does!About Woolly Witshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17537892942313716805noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5410129755264927812.post-35892920926201556042015-07-17T00:40:17.783-05:002015-07-17T00:40:17.783-05:00Somewhat... Perhaps that's why I still had three stitches left after finishing rows 2 & 3 seven more times. Will try again in the morning when my brain is fresh-er. You will also pick up stitches purlwise, inserting the needle from the back side (RS) to the front side (WS). You are picking up stitches along the side edge of the block where you are. Hope this clears it up for you.About Woolly Witshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17537892942313716805noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5410129755264927812.post-75634951579183342582015-07-15T22:21:04.292-05:002015-07-15T22:21:04.292-05:00 I got through Round 1 base triangles. Or the back of the top Vs of the base triangles? And from front to back?
Thank you! I want to finish this beautiful cowl!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16930058907053914204noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5410129755264927812.post-67940343515835627682015-04-11T04:19:29.117-05:002015-04-11T04:19:29.117-05:00Nice!
